QuickBooks Accountants in Manchester
From self-employed tradespeople to established limited companies, much of Manchester runs on QuickBooks. We use it daily for bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and year-end accounts, so whether you already have a subscription or are starting fresh, you get an accountant who works the way your software does.
Book a free consultationSetup and migration from your current system
New to QuickBooks, we set up your company file properly from day one: a chart of accounts that matches how you actually trade, VAT registered correctly with the right scheme, bank feeds connected, and invoice templates carrying your branding. Coming from somewhere else, whether that is spreadsheets, Xero, Sage or the desktop edition of QuickBooks itself, we move your data across, keep your customer and supplier history, and prove the opening balances against your last accounts before you rely on the new file.
Where a bookkeeper or previous accountant has left a file in a mess, we quote a one-off tidy-up first, because good software on top of bad data just produces faster wrong answers.
MTD-compliant filing through QuickBooks
QuickBooks Online is HMRC-recognised for Making Tax Digital, and we file clients' VAT returns from it every quarter using the digital links the rules require. If you have been copying figures into HMRC's website by hand, that stops on day one.
MTD for Income Tax is next: from April 2026, sole traders and landlords with income over £50,000 will file quarterly updates, with the threshold dropping to £30,000 in 2027 and £20,000 in 2028. The QuickBooks self-employed and sole trader plans are built around exactly this, and we prepare and submit the quarterly updates and the final declaration for you.
Training for you and your team
We show you and your staff the twenty per cent of QuickBooks that covers ninety per cent of a normal week: invoicing, the receipt capture app, categorising bank transactions, and the handful of reports worth reading. Training happens one to one or in small groups, at our Eccles office or by video call, and we remain a phone call away while the new routine beds in.
What it costs
We charge fixed monthly fees agreed before any work starts. Typical ranges: bookkeeping and payroll packages from £75 to £300 per month, sole trader self-assessment from £150 to £400, and limited company year-end accounts from £600 to £2,000 or more depending on size and complexity. Your QuickBooks subscription is billed separately by Intuit; we help you pick the cheapest plan that genuinely fits, and migrations or file tidy-ups are quoted as a one-off once we have seen your records.
FAQs
QuickBooks questions we hear most often
Can you take over a QuickBooks file my previous accountant set up?
Yes. We are added as the accountant user on your existing QuickBooks Online company, review how it has been set up, and fix anything that is causing wrong numbers, such as duplicated bank feeds, miscoded VAT or an overgrown chart of accounts. You keep your history; nothing needs to be rebuilt from scratch.
Does QuickBooks work for Making Tax Digital?
Yes. QuickBooks Online is HMRC-recognised for MTD for VAT, and it supports the quarterly updates required under MTD for Income Tax, which starts in April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with income over £50,000. We make the submissions for you from within QuickBooks.
I am a sole trader with simple affairs. Is QuickBooks overkill?
Usually not. The entry-level plans are inexpensive and the mobile app alone, which photographs receipts and logs mileage, tends to pay for itself at tax return time. We will tell you honestly if your affairs are simple enough that a cheaper plan or a different approach would serve you better.
Can you move me from QuickBooks desktop to QuickBooks Online?
Yes. We handle the migration from desktop editions to QuickBooks Online, including rebuilding recurring transactions and checking converted balances against your last accounts, and we time the switch so a VAT quarter is never split across two systems.
Who pays for the QuickBooks subscription?
The subscription is between you and Intuit, and pricing depends on the plan. We advise on the right plan before you sign up and review it with you as the business changes, so you are not paying for features you never open.
Can you run payroll through QuickBooks?
Yes. We run weekly and monthly payroll, including CIS for contractors and subcontractors, with payslips, pension submissions and RTI filings to HMRC handled as part of the service.
